Apple’s biggest supplier, Foxconn, has a less than great history when it comes to workers and their pay rate. This week another bit headline came out as a large group of Foxconn employees threatened to commit suicide if the company does not raise pay and increase benefits for employees.
This is a very strange threat according to many analysts but given the suicide history of the company it isn’t exactly uncommon. Foxconn also responded very quickly to the threat by promising to do whatever they can to improve labor relations and hopefully increase pay for workers. Apple’s suppliers may not have the greatest history of supporting employees but in this case it looks like they may have actually gotten what they wanted, even if it was through an outrageous and extreme threat
