After announcing the new iPad, Apple began taking preorders for the device from customers not wanting to fight the crowds on release day. They always do this and the outcome is usually overwhelming but this time Apple got even more of a response than they had ever imaged. Apple announced today that the number of preorders was so significant that they actually sold more than they had allotted for which means later comers to the preorder party will have to wait as much as an extra week in order to actually receive their iPad.

This is somewhat of a disappointment for Apple fans, but at the same point it is an unavoidable problem. Apple did not say exactly how many iPads were preorderd though; they simply said that more were ordered than accounted for. Apple also said that they will begin informing those customers that are going to face a delay so that they can decide whether or not they wish to wait an extra week for their iPad. Apple is quite happy with the results simply because it shows significant volume of sales, and analysts say that retail sales will likely be just as overwhelming. The new iPad sure looks like it is on the track to extreme success so we will not be surprised to see significant sales within the first few hours of the release of the new iPad in just a week. If you are planning to buy a new iPad, now is the time to get ready because the demand really is going to completely overwhelm the sales system around the world.
