How to Set Up Genius on your iPod Touch

One handy little feature of the iPod Touch is the Genius feature. This iPod Touch genius feature will let you choose one song, from which it will create an entire playlist of 25, 50, 75, or 100 songs. All of the songs will be related to the song you chose whether they’re by the same artist or they have the same sort of titles. The cool thing about Genius is that you can listen to your iPod Touch in a whole new way and carry around your own personal DJ! But, just how do you start taking advantage of all that Genius has to offer?

Start by opening iTunes. Look to the left-hand side and look to see where Genius is listed above the Playlists. Click on Genius and then simply click on “Start using Genius.” The first time you use Genius, you’ll need to agree to the terms of using the feature and either sign in with your Apple ID or create a new one. Once that’s completed, Genius will start to look through your Playlists to find similar or common songs and group them together. The results will be returned to you in just a few minutes, depending on big your music library is.

You can also use Genius if you have a certain song you want a common playlist for. Maybe you have a dance song and would like Genius to make an entire dance Playlist, or maybe you want an entire Playlist of slow country songs. Just find the song in your library and highlight it. Then find the Genius icon that appears in the bottom of the iTunes window. Genius will go on the hunt and find random similar songs for the tune of your choice.

Genius is great feature of the iPod Touch and once you get accustomed to using it, you’ll wonder what you ever did without it!
