There are a number of different apps available for the iPod Touch and the iPhone device that allow you to control certain things on your computer using the device. For example, there is an app named ‘Remote’ from Apple that will allow you to control your iTunes music library right from your iPod Touch or iPhone if you are on the same Wi-Fi network. However, there is now an app that will allow you to control even more and this goes by the name of remoteMouse.
Basically, remoteMouse is exactly what you would think it is and it basically turns your iPod Touch into a remote for your computer. The remote is completely wireless as it connects to your computer over your Wi-Fi network. The app is a small file so it installs rather quickly but in order to make it work, you will need to download a small piece of software for your computer too that will run in the background at all times. This is easy to download and install and it is available for Mac, PC and even Linux.
Once this has been installed on your iPod Touch and computer, you are ready to go. All you need to do is ensure you are on Wi-Fi on both devices and enter your IP address on your iPod Touch. Once this is done, your iPod Touch can now be used as a mouse for your computer. This is available for free form the iTunes app store although a paid version is available with more features.
