Apple’s iOS system has always been very capable of creating and editing lists and unfortunately many competitors seemed to want to copy this design. Up until now Apple never held an official patent on the system but today they were awarded a patent on the original system which should help prevent many competitors from stealing the design.
iOS list management is used in dozens of locations on an iPhone so it is obviously a big deal. Overall users and analysts say it is incredible intuitive and very easy to use so it makes sense to continue using it. Now that Apple has the patent we expect to see some legal battles arising to prevent copycats from doing the same. No word yet on when that may happen but Apple is undoubtedly very happy to receive the patent for this original design.
