The original iPad came out just under 2 years ago and in that short time it and the predecessor, the iPad 2, have managed to reach a staggering milestone in app downloads. According to reports the iPad officially hit 3 billion app downloads this week which is an incredible accomplishment given how short of a time period it has been on the market.

The iPhone took significantly longer to make it to this milestone and Android tablets are having the same amount of trouble so clearly Apple did something right with the iPad. Of course with talks of the iPad 3 on the horizon there is no indication that iPad sales will slow down so app downloads are going to continue to skyrocket through the coming months, who knows, we may see 4 billion app downloads in just a few more months it this keeps going.
