How to Zoom Out on the iPod Touch

Recently, many of our readers have been writing in with the same problem: their iPod Touch has zoomed in, and they can’t zoom it back out. The Touch still seems to work fine. But who wants to scroll through giant H’s just to check your email? A pain for sure, and undoubtedly impractical. We did some digging and found a few solutions that might help you zoom out on your iPod Touch.

The first thing you need to do is update your iPod Touch. Many people have had the problem of their Touch zooming in, then they updated it, and their iPod was fine afterwards. If you’ve already updated, try tapping the screen twice with one finger. Chances are, you’ve already tried that because that’s how you would normally zoom out on an iPod Touch if your Touch weren’t frozen on zoom. If it hasn’t worked, try double tapping on the screen with three fingers. The last way you can try zooming out with your iPod Touch just by playing with your screen is by pinching it. To pinch the screen of your iPod Touch, hold your thumb in the left-hand bottom corner and your finger in the top right-hand corner. Squeeze them together so that you are effectively “pinching” the screen.

If it still won’t work, you can try rebooting your iPod Touch. To do this, hold down the lock button and the Home button for about 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Release the buttons and wait until you see that cute little Apple come back. Hopefully, this reboot has solved the problem and you can continue using your iPod Touch as normal.

And lastly, as with all iPod Touch problems, when all else fails, you may have to restore it. Hopefully you don’t have to get to this point because it will need to be done through iTunes, which isn’t so bad, but you’ll also get your iPod Touch completely wiped, so you’ll have to completely reload it. Hopefully one of the simple solutions works out for you. Let us know if it does!
