Well when Apple came out with the OS 4.0, hackers around the world got busy trying to jailbreak it. And it didn’t take them long either. Now, a jailbreak for iPhone 4 is available, and it’s easy too! Here’s how to do it.
Start by opening the Safari browser right from your iPhone 4. In the browser, head to the address www.jailbreakme.com. Once the page has loaded, a slider bar will appear that says “Slide to jailbreak.” After that the jailbreak will begin to download and a dialogue box will come up that says, “Jailbreaking. Sit tight.” When it says this, it’s installing the jailbreak on your phone.
After the jailbreak has been downloaded and installed on your phone, another message will come up on the screen telling you that Cydia has just been placed onto your phone and that you now have the icon on your iPhone 4’s Home screen. Tap on “OK” and then open the Cydia browser through the icon on your Home screen.
When Cydia opens, you’ll be given three choices: User, Hacker, or Developer. Tap on “User.” After that, it will probably take a few minutes to open. After waiting a few minutes, another screen will come on that has some different options including “Sources” and “Packages.” Tap on “Sources” and then tap “Edit.” Tap “Add” and when a text box is shown, enter Cydia’s URL: http://cydia.hackulo.us. Note that this will only make the phone available to United States servers. For other countries, you’ll need to change the extension (i.e. for Canada, instead of the extension “us”, you would type “ca.”)
You’ll also be given a dialogue box warning you that you are downloading unethical information. If you still choose to jailbreak your iPhone, tap “Add Anyway.” Then tap on the first Hackulo source. After that, you’ll be given a list of operating systems that you want to jailbreak. The iPhone 4 operating system is the third option and it will show as “AppSync for OS 4.0.” Tap on that. After that, all you have to do is install the jailbreak. This will take a few minutes but once the installation is complete, you’ll be able to download and install both local and third-party apps.
Then all you have to do is start enjoying your new jailbroken iPhone to its fullest ability!
