The iPhone 5 is still one of the mysterious upcoming iOS devices but as the release gets closer and closer we’re beginning to learn more and more about what the iPhone 5 will include. Perhaps the most interesting and most unexpected rumored changes is the removal of the traditional 30 pin iPhone connector. According to a variety of sources the upcoming iPhone 5 is not going to include the standard connector that everyone has gotten used to and this will likely stir things up in a wide variety of ways.

Due to the size and width of the standard Apple connector it simply is not possible to increase battery space or shrink phones, that is precisely why they have decided to remove it for the iPhone 5. Of course Apple is still planning to implement some sort of USB connection which will once again be an iPhone proprietary connector so that is not all that different. The one main disappointment is that this will essentially force manufacturers to recreate their  iPhone accessories which will also force customers to purchase brand new products. Apple has not officially confirmed any of this but the various sources are generally quite reliable. If Apple does in fact switch to a new connector many users will likely be very upset with the need for all new accessories  so it will definitely be a very interesting announcement. Apple is expected to keep these details quiet until the release date comes closer and closer and since we still do not know exactly when that will be we cannot say when Apple is planning to announce the technical details of the upcoming iPhone 5.
